An add-on resin wheel set for building a model of the British twin-engine de Havilland Mosquito in 1:72 scale. It replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with parts with a sharply drawn tread pattern and a cleanly cast hub with no parting line. It is not an aircraft model or its main part. The exact number of parts and the full contents of the package are stated on the packaging.
The Mosquito was a British twin-engine multi-purpose aircraft with a wooden airframe, which earned it the nickname Wooden Wonder. It was built in bomber, fighter, night fighter and reconnaissance forms and in its day was among the fastest machines of its category. The landing gear is of the tailwheel type, with the main legs retracting into the engine nacelles. The wheels of the Mosquito are fairly massive and on a model with the gear down they form a display detail on which the difference from the kit parts shows at first glance.
It pays to work on the tread. After the base matte color of the tire, apply a very thin dark wash, let it run into the grooves of the tread and wipe the excess off with a cloth in the direction of the circumference — the pattern stands out and the wheel stops looking flat. A light pigment drawn on dry along the edges of the tread then suggests dust. Before painting, wash the parts in warm water with detergent and apply a primer, or the paint will rub off the smooth resin. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the surface on abrasive paper. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue; protect your airways while sanding.
This is an accessory, not a complete kit. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
