Printed parts of the FuG 218 Neptun radar in 1:72 scale. An accessory for models of German night fighters from the end of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
The FuG 218 Neptun was a German airborne radar from the last year of the Second World War. It was fitted to night fighters, which used it to find their target in the dark and in cloud, and it replaced older equipment of the previous generation. Outwardly it showed itself above all in the conspicuous antenna array projecting ahead of the nose of the aircraft, which is among the most characteristic features of German night fighters at the end of the war.
Printed parts for rendering the FuG 218 Neptun radar in 1:72 scale. The parts are made by 3D printing, that is by a different route than injection into a mold, thanks to which they have finer shapes and thinner sections. The exact number of parts and which kit they are meant for are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports, cut with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remaining stubs down gently. The thin antenna rods are delicate, so work over a tray and without pressure. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, as polystyrene cement does not work here. Paint the antennas separately from the airframe and glue them on only once the base coat is finished, so that they do not snap off during handling.
For modelers who build German night fighters in 1:72 scale and want the equipment more accurate and finer than injection-molded plastic can manage.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
