An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat version of the Swedish multirole fighter Saab JAS-39D Gripen in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The model captures the tandem two-seat variant with the lengthened fuselage for the second seat. The box contains parts in hard plastic and a decal sheet; go by the instructions supplied for the exact contents.
The JAS-39 Gripen is a single-engine Swedish fighter with a delta wing and canard foreplanes, designed as a light and easily maintained multirole aircraft for air combat, attack and reconnaissance. The two-seat D version was created above all for advanced pilot training, while retaining the high performance of the single-seater and offering greater operational flexibility. The rear seat also allows use on more demanding missions with a second crew member.
Use liquid cement for plastic and apply a primer before painting. The tandem cockpit is shown off by careful painting of both seats and instrument panels. Swedish camouflage schemes are easily handled with an airbrush; the panel lines can be picked out with a fine wash. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and matte the surface at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
