A clear canopy in 1:72 scale for a model of the Soviet LaGG-3 type 66 fighter. A replacement for the part from a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The LaGG-3 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the early war, whose airframe was built largely of wood so that production would not draw on scarce light alloy. The type 66 designation belongs to a late production batch, on which attention was concentrated on reducing weight and on a cleaner surface for the machine. For building a model there is a practical consequence: the early and the late machines differ in details, and it therefore pays to know which batch you are building.
The cockpit is the first place one looks on a model of an aircraft. The part from a kit tends to be thick in proportion to the scale, the frames on it need not be legible, and over years in a box it is easily scratched. A separate clear canopy solves this and also opens up the possibility of building the model with the canopy slid back, where the seat and the instrument panel are then visible.
Take clear parts by the edges; fingerprints are harder to remove from them than it seems. How the canopy is separated and prepared is given in the manufacturer's instructions, because it differs from one version to another. Try the fit on the fuselage dry and mask the frames before you start spraying, not once the paint has dried. Super glue can fog a clear surface, so an adhesive intended for clear parts suits the visible places. Small scratches can be polished out with a fine abrasive sponge and polishing compound.
A clear canopy is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
