The Mirage 2000 grew out of a requirement for a light supersonic fighter with a delta wing and became the backbone of the French Air Force for decades. The two-seat 2000B serves for training, the 2000N was created as a carrier of a nuclear missile and the 2000D derived from it carries out conventional strike duties. In the two-seat cockpit the pilot sits in front and the navigator behind, operating the navigation and targeting equipment. The machines saw use in operations in Africa and in the Middle East.
