Responsibility details are not available.
A generous box from the Ukrainian firm MARS Model. It holds 48 infantry figures, which is enough to put a whole company into an attacking position. The soldiers carry the equipment of the early 18th century, when the Swedish army was among the most feared in Europe. The material is plastic and the finish is bare.
The Great Northern War was fought from 1700 to 1721 between Sweden and a coalition led by Russia, Denmark and Saxony. The Swedish infantry was famed for its offensive doctrine: it advanced under fire, loosed a volley at point-blank range and settled the fight with the bayonet and the sword. That style brought victory at Narva, but in the Russian plains it finally came up short, and at Poltava in 1709 it broke Swedish supremacy for good.
The defining element is the dark blue coat with yellow facings and lapels, and with it yellow breeches and a black hat with white edging. Painting the edging by hand is fine work, and a thin brush and a support for the wrist pay off. Keep the straps and packs in ocher tones and pull the whole together with a brown wash.
The figures are sold unglued and in the color of the plastic. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
