1:72 US M26E2 Pershing Heavy Tank is a plastic kit of the American development variant of the M26 Pershing tank from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the American interim variant M26E2, that is, the Pershing rebuilt as part of the development that eventually led to the M46 Patton tank. The 1:72 scale lets a whole generation of American tanks of the 1940s stand side by side in a small area of a display case. The kit is made by Trumpeter.
The Pershing was created at the close of the Second World War as an answer to the German heavy tanks and entered service as a heavy tank; only later did the US Army reclassify it as a medium. Its weak point was the powertrain, which was not up to the weight of the vehicle. The M26E2 variant therefore received a more powerful engine, a cross-drive transmission and a modified 90mm gun with a bore evacuator and a muzzle brake. The experience gained with these vehicles fed directly into the production M46 Patton, which a few years later went into action in Korea.
Finish and spray the chassis and the suspension before closing up the hull, because once the superstructure is on, the wheels are hard to reach. Use liquid cement for polystyrene on the plastic and sand the hull joints carefully so that no visible groove is left on the model. Apply the base olive shade with an airbrush and grade the transitions with a lighter mix on the upper surfaces. A dark wash will bring out the rivets, the hatches and the tools, and fine dust on the lower hull will settle the model into the terrain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
