A Gunze Acrysion acrylic paint for the rubber parts of a model. A muted black with a gray cast, so that a tire does not get lost among glossy accessories.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tire never looks as black as paint. Rubber reflects light diffusely, reads matte and has a noticeable gray cast, and that is exactly the tone this shade holds. Thanks to it, the wheels on a finished model visually stand apart from the black frames, wipers and other parts that are meant to stay glossy.
Besides tire casings it finds use on rubber bumpers, door seals, hoses, grips and on track pads with rubber blocks. It also serves well as a base layer under light dust shades, because dust stays readable on it and does not sink into a deep black.
It is thinned with water. As soon as the paint left in the bottle thickens, the thinner from the same range will bring it back to working consistency; the cleaner meant for Acrysion then helps rinse out the airbrush. Before spraying it is a good idea to stir the contents well, so that settled pigment returns to the whole volume.
On a large tire it helps to lighten the shade with a light breath of gray where the light passes, and to leave the full tone in the pattern of the tread. The rubber then looks soft and a resin or plastic casting stops looking hard. The same method pays off on aircraft, where the tires are small and compressed by the weight of the machine.
