A water-thinnable acrylic paint from the Gunze Acrysion range in a burnt steel shade. A dark metallic tone for gun muzzles, exhausts and overheated surfaces.

Burnt metal imitates steel that great heat has passed through. Such a surface has a dark, slightly brownish metallic sheen without the sparkle of clean silver, and the modeler needs it for gun muzzles, for mufflers, for an engine's exhaust manifold and for the armor plate around exhaust openings.
The best result comes from a thin coat on a smooth dark base, because metallic particles lose their sheen on a matte and rough surface. A heavy coat, on the other hand, merges the pigment into a uniform area and the metallic character disappears from it. It therefore pays to build the shade up gradually and to let each coat set between passes.
The whole range is built for spraying with an airbrush and is thinned with water, or with Acrysion Thinner. Airbrushes and cups are rinsed out after work with Acrysion Tool Cleaner. The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly every time, because metallic pigment settles to the bottom faster than ordinary colorant.
The shade takes dark dust weathering and oil paints well, so further wear can be built on it without trouble. Combined with deep rust it produces a convincing transition between heat-soaked and corroding steel.
