A modeling paint in the shade of the yellow chromate primer to FS 33481. The typical tone of the internal structures and wheel wells of American aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a rich greenish yellow known to everyone who has looked into the innards of American aircraft of the Second World War. The period chromate primer was applied to metal parts to protect them against corrosion and in many cases it stayed exposed where it could not be seen from outside. The number FS 33481 in the name refers to the American color standard against which the tone is held.
Above all in the internal spaces of models: on the structure of the fuselage, on bulkheads, in wheel wells, on the inner sides of covers and doors and on parts under the cowlings. It also comes into its own on aircraft under construction in a diorama, where the interior is visible without a finished coat of paint, and as a base for chipped paint that shows through from underneath on exposed edges.
The word primer in the name describes the real subject of the shade, that is, the period base coat; whether the paint is also suitable as a base layer under further coats is something to take from the manufacturer's data. Use the thinner intended for this line; the thinning ratio for spraying and for the brush is given by the manufacturer on the packaging. Mix the contents of the bottle thoroughly before work and apply the paint in several light coats; the rich yellow tone then lays down more evenly than in one heavy coat.
The paint is intended for builders of American aircraft of the Second World War and for everyone who paints interiors and wheel wells in detail. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
