Vallejo Glossy Black FS17038 is a water-thinnable acrylic modeling paint from the Model Color line in a dropper bottle. Unlike the other dark shades of the line it dries to a high gloss - which is why it is an ideal base under metallics and for glossy black surfaces.

Glossy Black FS17038 is a modeling paint, not a kit. It is a water-thinnable acrylic from Vallejo out of the Model Color line - that is, from the thick, heavily pigmented line intended primarily for the brush; for an airbrush it has to be thinned. It comes in a dropper bottle with a volume of 17 ml (for the newer formula the manufacturer states 18 ml). The essential difference from the other black and dark gray shades: this one dries to a high gloss. The gloss is not a side effect here but the main reason to reach for the paint.
It is thinned with water or with a thinner for acrylic paints - never with denatured alcohol or a lacquer thinner. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. For an even gloss lay down thin coats and let them dry through; a heavy coat easily sags and the gloss goes dull. For an airbrush thin the paint to the consistency of milk - the thickness of the Model Color line is set for the brush, not for spraying.
For modelers who build automobiles, motorcycles and machinery with glossy surfaces, for everyone who wants to get the most out of their metallics, and for collectors of figures and dioramas who need a rich black with gloss. Anyone looking instead for a flat dark paint for shadows, chassis and a realistic soft black will do better with Black Grey or German Grey.
A modeling acrylic paint. Ensure enough ventilation when spraying and protect your airways. Keep out of the reach of children.
