GX103 Deep Clear Blue is a clear blue shade of the Mr.Color GX line in a deeper, more saturated position. The word Deep in the name sets this variant apart from the lighter clear blue: with it you reach a dark tone in fewer coats. A clear paint does not cover the surface underneath, only tints it, so the result always comes about together with the layer beneath it. The GX line belongs to Mr.Color, so it is thinned with the thinner intended for that line and the thinning ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
A saturated clear blue is used on beacons and blue lights, for toning transparent parts, for a deep gloss on bodies and tanks over a silver surface and as a filter with which you subdue and deepen a blue that is already finished. It also comes into its own on science fiction hardware, where a part is meant to look lit from within.
Stir the bottle before work; the pigment settles to the bottom. Spray in thin coats and let the surface dry between them; with a deep shade the difference between two and three coats shows a great deal, so add slowly and check the part against the light. The surface must be smooth and gloss, as a matte surface will cloud a clear coat. It is thinned with the thinner of the Mr.Color line. The thinner of this line is more aggressive than that of water-thinnable paints, so test the join with a paint of another brand on a scrap of plastic.
The package contains the bottle of paint on its own. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
