Medium Yellow is a medium, clean yellow from the Model Air acrylic range by the brand Vallejo. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — the package holds one dropper bottle of 17 ml. Model Air is a water-thinnable acrylic with a matte finish that is mixed specifically for the airbrush: it has a thinner consistency and in most cases can be sprayed straight from the bottle, with no further thinning. Depending on the pressure and the nozzle it is worth adding a few drops of water or of the airbrush thinner from the same manufacturer — never alcohol or cellulose thinner. It can be applied with a brush too, only then you have to allow for a thinner coat and more passes.
Yellow has weak opacity by the nature of the pigment — over a dark base the shade goes muddy and will not reach its full tone even after many coats. So spray a white or light gray base first and only then the yellow, in thin, well-dried coats. One heavy coat will not save the shade, it will only flood the detail. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom.
For modelers who work with an airbrush and want a clean medium yellow with no mixing — for trim, warning elements and as a base for further warm shades. It suits aircraft, vehicles and civil models equally and is rewarding as a mixing color on the palette.
When spraying, provide sufficient ventilation and protect your airways. Keep out of the reach of children.
