A hand-held holder for painting figures and models, part number FA-596 from the Polish brand Fine Art. The model is clamped in it by a spring mechanism, so you hold it by the handle as you work and do not have to touch the painted surface. The manufacturer gives three diameters for it: 20, 35 and 40 mm.
The main trouble when painting a small model is usually not the paint but the hand. Fingers smudge what is already done, and a shift of grip wipes off a finish that has not yet cured. A clamped model can be turned smoothly, so you always come at it from the side it is best painted from, and you draw the brush stroke from the shoulder rather than the fingers. The spring clamp will also hold a part that has no base yet, and thanks to the handle you can reach under the belly of a figure with an airbrush.
This is an aid for holding a model while painting, not a kit and not paints. The figure, paints and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
