The set holds resin figures of Russian Air Force pilots dressed in winter clothing, in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a winter airfield scene. A coat over the flight suit and winter headgear give the figures a different silhouette from ordinary flying clothing.
Even on a large base the walk from the building to the aircraft takes several minutes, and in a Russian winter a pilot will not manage it in a flight suit alone. Over his flying clothing he therefore puts on a coat and winter headgear, which he swaps for a helmet before climbing into the cockpit. This in-between moment is rewarding for a diorama, because it tells the story of the walk out to the aircraft. A winter scene also allows work with snow and mud.
Wash the 3D-printed figures in warm soapy water and cut the print supports away with a sharp blade, carefully around the fingers and the gear. Sand them with respiratory protection and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a thin primer as the base, paint the faces and hands with a brush and lighten the shades step by step, and finish the flight suit with a dark wash in the folds. Add gloss varnish to the helmet and the visor.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
