Landing flaps for the Hawker Siddeley HS 125 Dominie in 1:72 scale, intended for Airfix kits. The wing can be built with the mechanisms lowered.
Responsibility details are not available.
The HS 125 is among the most successful British jet aircraft of all. It was created in the 1960s as a twin-engined machine for business passengers, with the engines on the sides of the rear fuselage and a low-set wing, and it was built in various forms for whole decades. The Dominie designation was carried by the Royal Air Force version, used for training. For the crew it was a classroom with workstations inside the fuselage; for the modeler it is a clean, compact shape in a military coat, which catches the eye in a display case among combat types precisely by being unassuming.
Replacement landing flaps in 1:72 scale for Airfix kits, which make it possible to build the wing in the landing configuration. Lowered mechanisms suit a model on a stand or in a flying position especially well, where the underside of the wing faces the viewer; a smooth area becomes an articulated whole with shadows.
Cut the original part of the wing out only after scribing the outline and after several shallow passes, as a deep cut can easily go right through the wing. The parts are not polystyrene, so the joints are held by super glue. Cut excess material off a little away from the part, sand the remainder down and wash and degrease everything before painting. Glue the flaps on only after the surroundings have had their base coat, or you will struggle to reach the space behind them with a brush or with a nozzle. The symmetry of the two sides matters more with this kind of modification than any detail inside.
For modelers who build British jet aircraft in 1:72 scale and want to build the model in the landing configuration. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
