MRP-A114 SAND FS 33531

Mr.Paint MRP-A114 Sand FS 33531, the Aqua line

A Mr.Paint modeling paint whose part number contains the letter A, in other words from the Aqua line: an acrylic thinnable with water, suitable for the brush as well as the airbrush. The shade corresponds to the FS 33531 standard, a light sand, a desert color.

What the color belongs to

With sand shades it is easy to end up guessing; here there is no need to guess. The manufacturer assigns FS 33531 to the Israeli Air Force and offers it as part of a color family for Israeli machines from the 1970s to the present day. In the scheme the sand meets the green FS 34227 and the light green FS 34424; the camouflage is completed by the darker beige FS 30219 and the light blue underside FS 35622. On its own, then, it covers only part of the surface of a model. A hint: the first digit of an FS code is the degree of gloss, and 3 means matte.

Use and thinning

• It is thinned with water or with the acrylic thinner of the same line. Do not use cellulose thinner, as that belongs to the lacquer line.
• A trap for the customer: Mr.Paint has the identical shade name in the lacquer line as well, with different chemistry and a part number without the letter A, intended for the airbrush only. You cannot tell them apart by the name, so go by the number: this one is the acrylic.
• Light sand shades cover better over a light base; on dark plastic expect several passes applied in thin layers.
• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom.

Who it is for

For modelers of Israeli Air Force aircraft and for anyone looking for a desert shade to an FS standard in an acrylic with no solvent smell. Thanks to the water base it is comfortable to work with at a table at home as well.

Keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle carefully. Ventilate and protect your airways when spraying.
