The US M2 and M3 half-tracks stand on two wheels at the front and on a tracked bogie at the rear. The M2 served mainly as a scout and artillery vehicle, while the M3, with its longer and roomier body, carried infantry. A whole family of derivatives grew out of the basic shape, from mortar carriers to self-propelled guns, so the front wheels in this set will find a use on a large part of US half-track equipment.
Two pairs of wheels in 1:35 scale. The front axle of the vehicle takes two wheels, so the second pair is left over. It is the front wheel that is clearly visible from the front and from the side on a half-track, because nothing covers it.
The parts are not polystyrene and plastic cement does not work on them; use cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the mating surfaces first. Spray a primer before painting. Fit the wheels with the model standing on a flat surface, so that the front axle does not settle crooked against the tracked bogie. Apply pigment and mud only after gluing, otherwise the glue joints will clog.
For builders of US half-track equipment in 1:35 scale who want a cleaner front axle than the basic kit gives them. The set is small, but it targets a spot that is visible from every angle on the finished model. The package does not contain the model, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
