Styrene strip 0.75 x 0.50 x 350 mm - a package of 10 pieces

It is neither a kit nor an accessory for a particular model but raw material. Ten sticks of white polystyrene of 0.75 x 0.50 mm section and 350 mm long, from which you can build what you will not find in any box. The dimensions given are millimeters, not a scale - the profile can be used in any scale, depending on what you happen to be building.

What it is suited to

• Frames, strips and edging on surfaces where an edge is to be legible but not massive
• Suggesting stiffeners and ribs in an interior, where a fine hint is enough
• Repairs of broken thin parts and replacement of detail lost under paint
• Spacers and shims that hold parts in the right position during a build
• Accessories for dioramas - battens, strips, small structures

Cutting and gluing a thin profile

A thin profile is sensitive to a blunt blade: a knife with a worn edge crushes the material rather than cutting it, and the end is mangled. Use a fresh blade, therefore, and cut by pressing down onto a hard surface, not by drawing. Mark a longer piece with a light cut first and only then cut through. For joining, a thin cement for plastic is suitable, applied with a small brush into a joint already brought together, where it runs in by capillary action - a thick gel would form a fillet on a profile of this thickness that would stay visible. Once dry, sand the transition down with fine paper. Prime the polystyrene before painting; acrylic does not hold reliably on smooth styrene on its own.

For modelers who add their details themselves, for builders of dioramas and for everyone who needs a stock of fine profile at hand for repairs. Ten pieces of 350 mm each last a long time even with regular use.

This is a modeling material, not a kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. Neither the offcuts nor the sanding dust belong in the hands of children.
