Vallejo True Metallic Metal BASE, Ancient Copper

Ancient Copper is the base metallic tone from the True Metallic Metal (TMM) range of the Spanish brand Vallejo. It is a water-thinnable acrylic with a fine metal pigment that gives a surface the look of a patinated, warm copper alloy. The TMM range is systematic: each color family has a BASE tone with full coverage, a Light for highlights, a satin non-metallic SHADE and an airbrush variant. BASE is the starting layer on which you build the metal effect. The bottle holds 18 ml.

Use

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use; the metallic pigment sinks to the bottom and has to be stirred up.
• The best results come on a smooth, dark base, ideally over a black or dark primer, so that the metallic effect stands out more.
• It is applied with a brush or an airbrush and thinned with water or with Vallejo acrylic thinner.
• Apply metallic paints rather at the end; they are harder to mask and to overspray than ordinary matte acrylics.
• The effect can be deepened by lightening with the Light tone and shading with the satin SHADE from the same family.
