A blue metallic shade named after the sapphire, from the Vallejo True Metallic Metal range in the LIGHT position. It suits gems, ornaments and decorative fittings.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sapphire Blue belongs to the Vallejo True Metallic Metal range, that is among the paints intended for painting metals with metallic shades. The name points to the sapphire and the use matches it: gems on hilts and crowns, blue inlaid ornaments, magical crystals, decorative fittings and trim, but also blue-finished metal on helmets and pauldrons. The shade can also be laid in thin glazing layers over a silver undercoat, with the metal then showing through from below.
The range keeps its shades in two positions. LIGHT is the lighter variant for edges, reflections and lit areas, whereas SHADE is the darker variant for recesses and the sides turned away. On small elements such as gems and ornaments a single precise touch of the lighter position on the top edge is often enough; that is exactly what gives a stone the spark an evenly painted element will never acquire.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before work, metallic pigment sinks to the bottom. Smooth the base, a metallic surface emphasizes every irregularity. Apply the paint in thin layers and let them dry; dragging over a layer that has started to set leaves streaks. Check the thinning for spraying in the manufacturer's instructions. A matte varnish dulls the metallic effect, a gloss one suits gems better.
For painters of figures and busts who work with small ornaments and want to bring them to life with a metallic sheen. The figure, brushes and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
