Unguided S-25OFM rocket in 1:72 (Temp Models)

A resin heavy unguided S-25OFM aircraft rocket in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the long body and the deployed tail fins in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under the wing of a finished model.

The real subject

The S-25 series is carried singly in a launch tube under the wing, because it is too large for a pod. The version marked OFM is the modernized form of the high-explosive fragmentation type with a reworked warhead. Weapons of this category stand on the border between a rocket and a bomb: their effect is comparable to an aircraft bomb, but they are fired forward in flight, so the aircraft does not have to pass directly over the target.

Building and painting tips

Release the long rocket body from the supports on a flat work mat so that it does not bow. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Check the tail fins against the light to see whether they are twisted. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
