Pilot figures in a high-altitude suit with a helmet, set No. 16, 1:48 is a set of resin pilot figures in the complete high-altitude survival suit with a pressure helmet, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds resin figures of pilots in the complete high-altitude survival suit with an added pressure helmet, which the manufacturer designates with the abbreviation GSh-6, in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for one. The helmet gives the figure a characteristic head that an ordinary flying helmet does not have.
Flying at high altitude calls for a pressure helmet which, together with the high-altitude suit, keeps the pilot at a breathable pressure even if the cabin fails. The helmet is bulky, with a rigid visor and its own attachment to the suit, so the silhouette of the pilot looks entirely different from the one in ordinary clothing. The rig was worn by the crews of high-flying interceptors and reconnaissance aircraft. On the figure it is a conspicuous detail that is easy to recognize.
Wash the 3D-printed figures in warm soapy water and cut the print supports away with a sharp blade, carefully around the fingers and the gear. Sand them with respiratory protection and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a thin primer as the base, paint the faces and hands with a brush and lighten the shades step by step, and finish the flight suit with a dark wash in the folds. Add gloss varnish to the helmet and the visor.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
