A themed paint set from the IONIC range for German armored vehicles of the first war years, 1939 to 1942.
Responsibility details are not available.
This paint set from the IONIC range is put together for German armored vehicles from 1939 to 1942. Vehicles deployed in Europe carried a uniform dark gray finish in this period, whereas machines sent to North Africa received sand and brown shades. Both are tricky for a modeler: a uniform dark area swallows the light and hatches, rivets and grilles are lost on it, whereas a light desert finish brings every unevenness out to the surface instead.
Stir the contents of the container thoroughly before work. Apply the base tone thinly and in several coats, so that the surface of the parts stays legible. Then modulate the dark area: a lighter tone on the horizontal surfaces and the middle of large areas, a darker one into the shadows under the fenders and at the edges. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging and those instructions take precedence. Add dust on the lower parts and wear on the edges only at the end, otherwise the vehicle is left without any sense of scale. A perfectly even finish always looks artificial on a model, even if it was even on the real machine.
For modelers who build German vehicles from the start of the war or from the African theater and want the shades together. The subdued gray and sand tones also come into their own on equipment, crates and diorama accessories.
The number of shades, their names and the volume of the containers are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set. The model, glue and painting tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
