An embossing plate of etched brass from the Polish maker Aber with pattern number 09. It serves as a die for transferring a regular texture into thin foil. The working area measures 88 x 57 mm without the frame, which is enough in one impression for most ordinary parts. The plate is not part of a model; it is a tool.
In larger scales even small imperfections stand out, so try the impression on an offcut first and only then work the final piece. Metal foil lets you make a very thin part, which looks more realistic on the model than molded plastic. When bending such a part use a bending tool or at least two straight rulers; bending by hand usually makes the edge wavy. Treat a metal surface with a metal primer before painting.
For modelers of large scales, builders of detailed models of vehicles and everyone who wants to work with thin metal instead of thick plastic. The plate also suits display-case builds, where the viewer studies the model from close up and spots the difference between smooth plastic and real texture at once.
