Aber Engrave plate (88 x 57 mm) – pattern 10 is an etched brass plate that serves as a form for impressing a fine regular texture into thin foil.
Responsibility details are not available.
An etched brass plate from the Polish maker Aber with pattern number 10. It is used as a die: thin material is laid on the plate and the pattern is burnished into it. The working area measures 88 x 57 mm without the frame. The plate is a tool; what reaches the model is only the material you work on it.
A fine pattern calls for careful preparation. The material has to lie completely flat and free of creases, otherwise the texture is transferred unevenly. Use a burnisher with a smooth rounded end; a sharp edge would tear the pattern in the material. Small parts are easily lost, so cut them out of a larger piece only after the impression and leave a margin around them to hold on to. The texture shows up nicely once matte paint has been sprayed on and a dry brush passed lightly over it to bring out the raised edges.
For meticulous modelers who finish off the details of interiors and exteriors alike, and for workshops where a general-purpose tool with no tie to one particular kit comes in handy. A finer texture also comes into its own where a coarse relief would look unconvincing in the scale in question.
This is a modeling tool, not a kit. Material for transferring the pattern is not included in the package.
