The real subject

The name Going Merry belongs to a sailing ship from the Japanese One Piece series, which even an audience that otherwise pays no attention to ship models knows. The bow with a sheep's head became the hallmark of the whole story, and a model of this ship therefore has a firm place among modelers as well. What builders enjoy about her above all is the combination of a wooden hull, rigging and small details that look more like an illustration than a technical drawing. It is exactly on a ship like this that it pays to give attention to the deck, because it is visible from all sides on the model.

What you are getting

This is an accessory for ship models, not a kit. The kind of part and what model it is for are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through them beforehand and compare them with the model you are building. The dimensions and the outlines of deck parts differ from model to model.

Building tips

• Lay every part down dry first and check how it seats.
• Rid the surface of the model of dust and grease, otherwise the joint will not hold.
• Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest off.
• Press extensive surfaces down from the center out to the edges, so that they do not buckle.
• Glue parts that are not polystyrene with cyanoacrylate glue in small doses.
