The character is given as a noble adventurer and her appeal for a painter lies precisely in that double nature: formal dress against practical traveling gear. On one casting, flowing cloth, leather, metal and bare skin therefore meet. First wash the casting in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry out properly, because remains of mold release agent from the mold are the most common reason why paint later cracks or peels off. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife or a modeling saw a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, and never snap them off. Run a scalpel held flat along the parting seams and polish them out with fine sandpaper; fill any remaining gaps with putty. Join the parts with super glue and protect your airways while sanding. A thin coat of primer from a spray can or an airbrush follows. At 35 mm size the face is the most demanding part: paint it with heavily thinned paint in several coats and leave the eyes until last, when your hand is warmed up.
