Aires 1:48 MiG-27 early exhaust nozzle - opened is a resin replacement for the exhaust nozzle of the early MiG-27 version, cast in the open position. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit of an aircraft.

An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Aires for models in 1:48. It replaces the exhaust nozzle of the early version of the MiG-27 ground-attack aircraft with a thin-walled resin casting with a worked-out interior that the plastic part from a kit lacks. This version is cast in the open, that is the expanded position, matching the engine running at a higher setting. A version with the nozzle closed is offered separately. A model of the aircraft is not part of the package.
The MiG-27 was a Soviet ground-attack aircraft derived from the MiG-23 fighter with a variable-geometry wing. It was given a reshaped nose adapted to attacks on ground targets, strengthened landing gear and different equipment. The early and the later batches differed in the arrangement of the engine section, and therefore in the shape of the exhaust nozzle as well. On a model it is a prominent feature visible at first glance: an open nozzle shows the inner petals and the flame holder, so it makes sense to paint it with real heat weathering.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; when sanding resin, protect your airways and sand under water. Try the seating dry first, as the rear part of the fuselage sometimes has to be adjusted slightly. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the nozzle separately: a base of metal shades, over it heat discoloration in bluish and brownish tones and soot at the trailing edge. With an open nozzle do not forget the interior, which is visible deep inside. Stir metallic paints thoroughly and apply them onto a smooth base.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
