Two sheets of flexible abrasive cloth of 4000 grit measuring 100 x 75 mm. For dry as well as wet work, reusable after washing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The abrasive grains sit on a textile backing that bends and adapts to a curve. Thanks to that the surface can be finished even where a rigid sanding block will not seat, that is, on leading edges, on fuselage fillets or around raised rivets. The backing does not crumble and leaves no fibers behind.
This grit comes into play when the shape is finished and only the surface is left: after sanding filler, after removing a mold seam or after sanding down a sprue gate mark. It leaves a matte smooth surface on which a base coat holds and which at the same time does not give the earlier work away.
With a drop of water the material sands more calmly, because the removed particles are washed away and the surface does not clog. Rinse the cloth as you go and let it dry, and keep the pressure moderate; what decides the result is the number of strokes, not force. Store it dry so that the backing does not take up moisture.
The number four thousand can be read as a position on a ladder. The lower grades shape and remove material, while the higher ones only adjust the look of a finished surface. This middle of the road is therefore a sensible choice for anyone who does not want to keep the whole scale at home and will manage with one fine grade above ordinary abrasive paper.
