A photo backdrop from the Maxx Darth Black range in the larger 300x400 mm format. The difference from the smaller version is not only in area but above all in what you can allow yourself in a shot. A larger backdrop gives room around the model, so it can be photographed from a distance and from a lower angle without the edge of the base and the corner of the table behind it getting into the frame. A visible edge is precisely the most frequent reason an amateur photograph of a model does not look good.
With a larger area the importance of lighting grows too. One source from the side gives the model shape, a second weaker one from the opposite side softens the shadows so that they do not go completely black. Direct light from the front, by contrast, grays the backdrop and brings out every speck. Place the model so that a free strip of backdrop stays behind it, or a sharp shadow will form at the edge. It pays to shoot from the eye level of the model, not from above, because a view from above makes it look smaller. And before you press the shutter, run a soft brush over the surface, as dust shows mercilessly on a dark base.
