An eight-color lineup for Greek machines: the quartet of the Southeast Asia scheme, the pair of the taken-over Jordanian fighters and the wraparound Norm 83.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the seventies the Hellenic Air Force took over the American SEA scheme and spread it across its whole fleet. It was carried by the A-7 attack machines, the F-5 and F-4 fighters, the reconnaissance F-84F, the F-102 interceptors, the fast F-104 Starfighter, the T-2 and T-33 trainers and the C-130 Hercules transports. Four bottles cover exactly this outfit: FS 30219 Dark Tan, FS 34079 Dark Green, FS 34012 Medium Green and FS 36622 for the lower surfaces.
The remaining quartet belongs to two Greek specialities. FS 30140 Pale Brown and FS 20400 Tan aim at the F-5A and F-5B aircraft taken over from Jordan in the eighties; their desert cast became known as the Asia Minor scheme. RAL 7021 Black Grey together with FS 34095 Field Green make up the pair of the wraparound Norm 83 camouflage, which the reconnaissance RF-4E brought to Greece from German surplus and in which the Do-28D-2 Skyservant liaison aircraft also appeared for a time.
The lineup therefore holds not one aircraft but three eras of one air force. It pays off where a modeler wants to build a group of machines from different years and keep a color continuity between them that mixing one at a time would inevitably break. The same green held on several types in Greece at the same time, so the difference between two display pieces should be in the wear and the markings, not in the tone of the base finish.
