The fifth part of the British range is devoted to the bombers of the so-called V-force. It holds the silver of the early period, the dazzling white of the end of the fifties, a pair of British grays, a dark green and the hemp shade of the tankers.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set of eight tones tells the story of the British heavy bombers. It begins with the silver, which the machines carried in the early and trial period and which the Valiants also had during the Egyptian crisis of 1956. From 1957 a matte white layer replaced it, the purpose of which was to reflect heat and light radiation. The prototypes of the canceled TSR2 project carried it too, and later it remained on the lower surfaces of camouflaged machines.
From the middle of the sixties the bombers changed to attack from low altitudes and with it came a camouflage of the British medium sea gray in shade 637 and a dark green in shade 641. The lower surfaces were covered by the light aircraft gray in shade 627. The dark sea gray in shade 638 is tied to a particular episode, namely to the lower surfaces of the Vulcan machines during the long-range raids in the conflict over the Falklands.
The seventh tone is the beige in shade 389, known as hemp, which in the eighties and nineties was carried by the Victor tankers. The eighth tone, the deep black in shade 642, belongs to the anti-glare panels in front of the cockpit.
The fifth part of the range is in fact a color chronicle of one era of the Royal Air Force, held within a single package.
