A gray shade from the 3rd Generation subrange, which the manufacturer aims at models of military equipment. It is a water-based acrylic in a bottle, intended for a brush and for an airbrush and thinnable with water or with the acrylic thinner of the same brand. The tone is a cool gray with a hint of blue, in other words a color that behaves differently on a model from the neutral grays: in direct light it lightens, and in shadow it shifts more markedly toward blue. Watch out for the name: the same or a very similar name is used by a number of other manufacturers for different shades and different chemistry, so shades cannot be swapped between brands.
On gray surfaces it shows most of all how the paint runs out to the edge. Watch the edge of the part while spraying: if a darker rim forms there, material is building up and the paint is either too thin, or you are moving the airbrush slowly and too close. The opposite fault is a dry, grainy edge, which means that the droplets are atomizing before they land, because the paint is thick, the pressure high or the distance great. The answer is always a combination: thin it very slightly, lower the pressure and carry the pass smoothly across the whole surface and beyond its edge, so that spraying does not start and stop on the part. With a brush the same effect shows as a visible edge of a dried stroke; there it helps to work from the edge toward the center and to keep the coat thin.
For modelers who work with water-thinnable acrylics and need a cool gray in a particular tone. We recommend finishing a whole model in one range, so that the shades follow on from one another.
