Tamiya — round plastic beam 1 mm, 10 pcs

A set of ten white polystyrene rods of round cross-section, 1 mm in diameter and 400 mm long. This is modeling material, not a kit — it serves for making your own parts and for modifying or repairing finished models. The main advantage is fundamental: it is the same type of plastic that kits are injection-molded from, so it glues with ordinary cement for plastic (including thin, flowing types) and paints with the same paints as the rest of the model. The white color also takes both base and top coats well and makes coverage easy to check.

Use

• fine tubes, hoses and lines in engine bays and interiors,
• posts, stanchions, grab handles, railings and small structural stiffeners,
• barrels of small weapons, aerials, masts and booms,
• internal frames and stiffeners when gluing larger assemblies, and replacements for lost or damaged parts,
• scratchbuilding, conversions and diorama details.

Work tips

The beam is shortened with a sharp knife or a cutter — best with a square cut, and the burr is then leveled with fine sandpaper. The thin diameter can be shaped slightly even cold, while larger curves hold better after warming. Once dry, a glued joint is sanded and filled exactly as any other plastic part, so the transition to the kit does not show. Before spraying we recommend applying a primer so that the whole surface has uniform absorbency.
