An AK Interactive modeling paint from the Real Colors range in the shade RAF Dark Sea Grey to the British standard BS 381C, reference number 638. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Dark Sea Grey is the darker cool gray of the Royal Air Force, listed in the British standard BS 381C under the reference number 638. Do not confuse it with Extra Dark Sea Grey, which has its own number in the same standard and is distinctly darker. Dark Sea Grey appears on British machines in the later part of the war and in postwar finishes, where it is usually paired with lighter undersides.
The shade is used on the upper surfaces of British aircraft wherever the scheme does not call for the darkest gray, and it serves well as a clean dark gray on accessories, equipment and scenery. Because it follows a standard, it matches the other shades listed under BS numbers without trouble. The same range offers further British grays, so the differences between them can be kept.
The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles to the bottom. The paint is applied in several thin coats on a degreased and dust-free surface, ideally over a primer that evens out the absorbency of the plastic, the filler and the accessories. Thinning, spraying pressure and tool cleaning follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner recommended for this range. Neighboring grays stand apart better on the model when each of them gets a different degree of final lightening.
The paint alone is supplied, in a bottle with a volume of 17 ml. Thinner, primer, final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
