Reddish Flesh is a flesh shade shifted toward red from the Quick Gen Color acrylic range by AK Interactive. It is a water-thinnable acrylic meant for figures and gaming models. Within a palette of flesh tones it takes the warmer role: places well supplied with blood, cheekbones, finger joints, ears, sunburned skin. On its own as a base tone it usually reads as too pink, and its strength lies in combination with a more neutral flesh shade.
Blending two flesh tones directly on a figure has a very short window with an acrylic. The paint dries by the evaporation of water, so on the small area of a face it is a matter of tens of seconds, not minutes. Anyone who tries to smooth the transition for a long time does the exact opposite, as the brush only drags the setting film away and patches appear. It is therefore more practical to use layering with thin glazes: lay down a heavily thinned layer, let it dry completely and add another. The transition then comes not from blending but from honestly stacking translucent layers, each covering a slightly smaller area. Letting every glaze dry is a necessary condition. A wet palette keeps the paint workable longer, but it will not extend the window on the model.
For figure modelers and gamers who paint skin and want to handle the places well supplied with blood and the soft transitions on the face and the hands.
