This set belongs to the weathering line aimed at railways and is intended specifically for rolling stock, that is, for wagons, flat and goods wagons and locomotives. It is neither a kit nor a paint for a base coat; these are weathering products applied to a finished, painted model. The aim is to turn a factory-clean model into a wagon on which service can be seen: runs around the rivets and edging, dust raised from the track, rust in the places where the finish is scuffed away, and dirt built up around the running gear.

Use

• Work on a finished, painted and fully dried model; a protective clear coat under the weathering gives you the chance to correct the effect.
• Work from the top down and from subtle to strong: weathering is easy to add but hard to take away.
• Draw vertical runs with the brush from the top down, following the real direction in which water runs down the side of a wagon.
• The most dirt belongs around the bogies, the lower edging and the buffers, and the least on the roof and the upper third of the sides.
• Apply rust deliberately to edges, joints and scuffed places; a continuous rusty area over the whole wagon looks improbable.
