This is a set of hand-modeled and hand-painted figures in the railroad scale HO, that is 1:87. It is not a kit and not an unpainted casting; all the pieces are finished and complete in color down to the small details. The Scenic Accents line is built precisely on the fact that a modeler gets a usable vignette at once, without painting and without waiting for anything to dry.
The set captures six wildland firefighters in full gear. The figures have packs and in their hands they hold the tools with which firebreaks are cut in the field and a hot spot is damped down. The motif suits the wooded part of a layout, a ranger station, a storage siding or a diorama with firefighting equipment. Each figure has a different pose, so the set makes a lively group scene rather than a row of identical dummies.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted, so it is enough to place them in a scene. Tweezers help with precise seating, and a drop of PVA or cyanoacrylate glue is enough for permanent fixing. In soft terrain it pays off to push the vegetation aside, so that the base sits on a firm surface and the figure stands straight. The detail can be brought out further with a dark wash run into the folds of the clothing and with a light lift of the edges using a dry brush; a final coat of matte varnish unifies the gloss and protects the paint against rubbing and dust.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted. Glue, terrain materials and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
