SQUARE BASE 20X20MM X10 UNITS

What is in the box

Ten square bases measuring 20x20 mm. A square footprint of this size is among the most common ones for foot figures, so units line up well beside one another and distances are measured from a clearly set edge. The size is uniform within the package, so the whole group stands on the same footing.

What it is suited to

A base gives a figure a firm stance and clearly marks off the piece of scene that belongs to it. It will be used when building new figures, when replacing a damaged or unsightly original base, and also when you are tying an older collection together where every piece has a different footing. A package of ten pieces is enough for a whole group at once and the remaining pieces come in handy as a reserve.

Building and painting tips

• Fix the figure to the base first and only then finish the surface, because working around the feet is harder than on a free area.
• Lay loose materials into a layer of glue or thin paste and, once dry, go over them with thinned glue, or they will crumble.
• Wash and degrease the base before painting and put a primer on, because without it the paint rubs off a smooth surface.
• One coat of covering paint over the rim is usually enough, and a sharp transition looks better than a smudged one.
• Use any cavity or the space under the model for a weight, which lowers the center of gravity.
