Responsibility details are not available.
This distorted kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the German heavy tank Tiger I in a cute shortened form, with markings referring to the machine of the tank commander Michael Wittmann. According to the name the package also holds a painted display pedestal, so the finished model can be placed in a display case straight away. The kit is not in scale — the playful proportions with an enlarged turret are the intent of the line.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War, committed from 1942. The combination of thick armor and an 88 mm gun made it a feared opponent; the price was high weight, complicated production and demanding maintenance. Michael Wittmann was among the best known German tank commanders; his name is tied above all to the fighting in Normandy in 1944, where he also fell. The model approaches the theme purely as a historical subject.
The build is simple and quick. The Tiger suits a dark yellow base with camouflage stripes of green or brown; on a distorted model the simplified surfaces come out well when brush painted. A dark wash into the gaps, light drybrushing on the edges and dust on the running gear will give the toy-like silhouette a surprisingly realistic touch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
