Tools for Zimmerit Coat (Master Tools)

This is a set of modeling tools (applicators) by the brand Master Tools (a range by the manufacturer Trumpeter). It is neither a model nor a part for a model but an aid with which you create the characteristic relief of zimmerit on the surface of a tank. The set contains several shaped combs and spreaders for different patterns and for places that are hard to reach.

What zimmerit is

Zimmerit was an antimagnetic paste that German armorers applied to the surface of tanks in 1943 and 1944. Its ridged relief was meant to prevent magnetic anti-tank mines from sticking. It is exactly this ridged pattern that the tools help to imitate faithfully.

Use

• Apply a suitable filler or modeling compound to the model in a thin layer
• Press the pattern you want into the compound with the tool while it is still soft
• The different combs let you vary the pattern according to the manufacturer or the type of vehicle
• Once dry, the surface can be painted and weathered

These are reusable tools. Filler, modeling compound and paints are not included in the package.
