Seat covers, straps and canvas covers in a cockpit need a warm tone — Lifecolor Tan FS30219 is a sandy brown shade that lights up against gray panels in the gloom of an interior.

A cockpit is not only gray. Precisely because most of the panels, frames and instruments hold cool gray tones, the liveliness of the whole space is decided by a few warm areas: a seat cover, straps, canvas covers, pouches or wooden floorboards. A sandy brown shade with a reference to the Federal Standard in its name is the natural choice for that role.
In a closed space light is missing and the eye looks for a point of reference. A warm sandy tone among cool gray areas creates such a point and the space becomes legible at once — and that even when the whole cockpit is visible only through a slot under the glazing. It also helps that a sandy shade takes later dirtying nicely: a dark wash in the folds of a cover turns a flat area into soft fabric, and light drybrushing with a tone a shade lighter draws out the worn edges where the pilot climbed into the seat.
For modelers of aircraft and vehicles who build an interior in layers and want the warm areas separated from the gray base. It comes into its own on figures and equipment inside the space as well.
Keep out of the reach of children and work in a room that can be ventilated.
