The anthracite gray Lifecolor Anthrazitgrau Matt RAL 7016 comes into its own on a model wherever the vehicle carries the traces of repairs: painted-over patches, replaced panels and sooty areas around the exhausts.
Responsibility details are not available.
A machine that has been through a repair is never one single color. A new panel has a different shade from its surroundings, a patch is painted over with whatever is at hand, and around the exhaust a sooty grime settles that nobody washes off. The matte anthracite gray with the number RAL 7016 in its designation is ideal for this kind of storytelling about damage: it is dark enough to read as scorched or soiled metal, and yet it is not black.
What matters is that the repair should be younger than its surroundings. A dusty and faded area around, a fresh dark patch in the middle, small scrapes along its edge and perhaps a first cast of rust on the rivets. When a unifying dust is then laid over the whole model, the patch stays noticeably darker and the difference will be legible even at a distance. The reverse order, a dark patch on a fresh finish, will not convince the viewer of the model.
The shade will be appreciated by modelers who build a particular machine with a particular history, and by everyone working on dioramas with field repairs and parked-up vehicles.
Keep out of the reach of children and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
