Lifecolor 4BO Deep Shade is an acrylic Soviet green in a dark position. It serves as the shadow step laid on a model in relation to the main tone.

Depth on a model is not made by adding black but by laying the same tone down darker. The shade is the dark position of the Soviet green 4BO and belongs to the phase in which the model already has its main color and the drawing of space begins on it.
The most usual route is to apply it after the main tone and before the brightening: into the space under the mudguards, between the road wheels, under superstructures and into every corner the light would not reach in reality. There is, however, also the reverse order, in which the dark position is laid down first and the main tone is then applied so that it stays showing through in the hollows and around the detail. Both routes lead to the same end and differ only in whether the modeler trusts their drawing or their control of thin coats more. The same numbered line also holds the light variant 4BO Flashed Shade, which follows on from this step.
For modelers of Soviet and Eastern vehicles who build color in steps and do not want to reach for an alien color for the shadow. It also suits work in smaller scales, where the shadow has to be pronounced to be visible at all.
Stir the bottle well before use, close it well after work and store it out of the reach of children.
