A paint from the Lifecolor modeling line, listed under the manufacturer's part number UA266. The name gives the shade Light Stone with the sequence number 61 and a matte finish. It is a light sandy stone tone, that is a shade from the group of light earthy and desert colors that modelers use as a broad base for large surfaces.
A matte surface returns no sharp highlights, so a model reads more convincingly in miniature and the shading of panels and rivets stands out better on it. A matte layer also has a finely open surface on which pigments and dry brushwork hold well. Under decals, though, a matte surface does not work; the decal would whiten to a silvery look on it. Give the place under a decal a gloss varnish first, then, and restore the matte look only with a final matte varnish over the whole model.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before every use, as the pigment settles at the bottom when standing. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio as instructed by the manufacturer on the packaging, that is the thinner intended for this line. Apply in thin coats and let each one dry; with light sand tones it pays to use more coats, because a light pigment covers more slowly than a dark one. Wash and degrease the surface beforehand, as paint beads up on greasy plastic and holds badly.
The bottle of paint in the shade named is supplied on its own. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
