The dark brown counterpart of the light kit is German uniforms Dark Brown from the Lifecolor acrylic line, a tone for leather, boots and the bottom of folds.
Responsibility details are not available.
This water-based acrylic paint represents the dark brown position within the German uniforms group. It is one of those shades that appear on a figure over a small area, yet whose absence shows at once; without a deep brown a figure reads washed out and flat, because it lacks its darkest point.
Leather has a logic of its own
Tanned leather differs from wool cloth in one key respect: it gathers light into narrow, sharply bounded highlights, whereas fabric scatters it. Paint a belt the same way as a blouse, then, and the belt stays dead. Lay the dark brown on leather as the base and put the light on narrowly and precisely, only on the edges and the places where the strap is taut across the body.
A dark brown is also useful as a shadow position under lighter brown and earthy tones. On canvas kit, on a bread bag and on a tropical uniform you can use it for the deepest places in the folds, where a purely black shadow would read forced and artificial. It serves just as well for the staining of mud and abrasion on the lower parts of a figure in a diorama.
For modelers of figures and busts who build the contrast of materials on a figure, and for diorama builders needing a deep earthy brown without sliding into black.
Stir before work, work in a well-ventilated room and keep the paint out of the reach of children.
