An injection-molded plastic kit of the machine designated TDF MRI, that is, of the machinery of the defense forces from the world of the Japanese Ultraman series, from Fujimi. The qualifier Renewal Edition means a renewed edition, that is, the return of an older subject to the range. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is built in the usual way: the parts are nipped from the sprues, cleaned up, glued, the joints are filled and sanded, and then come the paint and the decals.
In the world of the Ultraman series, human defense forces stand against giant enemies and have their own aircraft, ground machines and vessels. It is precisely from this machinery that Fujimi has long built a whole modeling line, to which this machine also belongs. The design draws on the Japanese television aesthetic of the 1960s and 1970s and is marked by a combination of simple geometric volumes, bold areas of color and conspicuous markings. As a collecting subject it has a loyal following and at the same time it fills out the whole series well, because the individual machines go together visually.
With television machinery it is not weathering that counts but a clean and even finish, so devote time to preparing the surface. Fill and sand the joints after gluing, as you would otherwise see them on large single-color areas even after the paint is on. Apply a primer before painting; it unifies the base and reveals any remaining flaws. Spray sharp transitions of color and stripes through a mask, so that no uneven edge appears at the boundaries of the areas. Apply the decals onto gloss varnish, use a decal softener and finally seal them with varnish in the degree of gloss you want.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
