Eight acrylic shades according to the American camouflage table of the time of the Second World War, including black, ocean gray and six terrain tones marked with serial numbers.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the Second World War the US Army Corps of Engineers put together a range of terrain shades provided with serial numbers, so that they could be combined according to the environment in which a unit was fighting at the time. Light green, earth brown, earth yellow, earth red, olive drab and desert sand appeared on armored vehicles as well as on artillery equipment, with the Marine Corps in the Pacific reaching for different combinations than the units in Europe and North Africa. A supplement to the terrain tones were ocean gray and black for shadows and the boundaries of patches.
Eight separate bottles of acrylic paint. Six of them carry the serial numbers of the American table supplemented with a reference to the Federal Standard of shades, and the remaining two are black and ocean gray. The eight-piece treatment is the highest grade with this brand, set apart from the more common six-piece boxes. The caps are dropper caps, so paint can be taken out drop by drop and exact ratios mixed straight in a palette.
Patched camouflage is done from the bottom up: first the base terrain tone is laid over the whole surface, once it has dried the patches of the second color are added freehand from a short distance, and the black is used sparingly, only in the shadows under the fenders and to divide neighboring patches. The thinning is with water, so an airbrush is easy to clean. Anyone building Marine Corps vehicles will appreciate that the table covers tones that do not commonly occur in European sets.
