Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of an American guided missile destroyer in 1:350 scale. The real subject is one particular ship with the hull designation DDG-82, belonging to a later build series of the Arleigh Burke class. The manufacturer is Trumpeter.
Arleigh Burke is the most numerous class of guided missile destroyers of the US Navy and is still being built, albeit in upgraded series. At its heart is the Aegis combat system with large flat phased-array radar faces built into the superstructure, and vertical launch cells forward and aft, which allow it to carry anti-air, anti-ship and strike missiles alike. The units of the later build series are told apart from the earlier ones mainly by the stern: they received a full hangar for two deck helicopters, which the first ships of the class did not have and which markedly changes the shape of the rear superstructure. DDG-82 entered service at the turn of the millennium and was forward-deployed in the Pacific for a number of years.
Modern American ships have large smooth surfaces on which every imperfection shows, so fill and sand the joints of the superstructure. Apply the gray finish in thin coats and grade it gently, so that the side does not look flat. Leave the helicopter deck and its markings for the painted surface. Fit the radar antennas and the fine yardarms at the end, once the rough work is done. The finished model will show best on a darker base or on a water surface made from resin.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
